Volumes hit 28,400 tonnes — the highest single-month total since 2015, helped by a weaker rupee and a stronger Ceylon premium in continental markets. THELEDGER/FERNANDO Purchase Licensing Rights ↗

May 11 (TheLedger) - Sri Lanka's tea exports reached 28,400 tonnes in October, the highest monthly total in nearly a decade, the Tea Board confirmed on Tuesday.

Driving the surge: stronger demand from Germany, the Netherlands, and Poland, where Ceylon black tea has regained shelf space following two years of supply-chain disruption. Average auction prices were 4.2% higher year-on-year.

Export earnings for the month came in at USD 134 million.
